Jed Brinton represents clients in litigation disputes, internal investigations, and administrative law issues related to education. Mr. Brinton served as the Deputy General Counsel at the United States Department of Education from 2018 to 2020, where he played a significant role in administrative rulemaking related to internal investigations at universities. Mr. Brinton has also advised institutes of higher education on accreditation issues.
Mr. Brinton has represented clients in litigation disputes across a broad spectrum of issues, including employment disputes, real estate, intellectual property issues, corporate structure, privacy, defamation, and insurance coverage. From his time in both private practice and in public service, Mr. Brinton has a particular skillset assisting clients in internal investigations. Mr. Brinton has expertise in First Amendment litigation, particularly in the area where law affects religious organizations. He has handled litigation at all stages from pre-complaint negotiation, discovery, mediation, settlement, and appeals.
Mr. Brinton graduated from Yale Law School in 2010, during which he spent time as a law clerk for the Romney for President 2008 campaign. Mr. Brinton holds undergraduate degrees in Statistics and Philosophy from Brigham Young University.
